Acquired

Selected with the second overall pick in the 2008 MLS SuperDraft on January 28, 2008 as a Generation adidas player. The pick was acquired from Toronto FC on Mar. 20, 2007, along with a partial allocation, in exchange for Richard Mulrooney.

Professional

2008: Made his professional and MLS debut at Chivas USA on April 20 as a substitute for Blake Wagner in the 86th and picked up his first yellow card four minutes later, just one day after returning from Portugal with the U.S. U-20s. He then played 90 minutes in Reserve game vs. Chivas the next day...Appeared in five of the team's six international friendlies, including full 90 at center back versus Club America on Sept. 7…Made eight Reserve Division starts at forward, left midfield and center back… Moved to center back under head coach Schellas Hyndman, where he played the full 90 against Club America on Sept. 7...Underwent season-ending surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee on Sept. 19.

International

2009: Traveled to Trinidad in January with the U.S. U-20's in preparation for the 2009 U-20 World Cup.
2008: Was called into three different age categories of the U.S. National Team (Senior, U-20, U-23)…Called into the U.S. U-20 team in January for the Copa Chivas in Guadalajara, Mexico, but did not participate due to a minor injury suffered at the MLS Combine earlier in the month… Received his first ever call-up to the senior U.S. National Team for World Cup Qualifier at Barbados on June 22, but did not appear…Participated in the Milk Cup in Northern Ireland with the U.S. U-20 team from July 29 - Aug. 1, scoring twice in three games…Missed the May 18 and May 24 games while with the U.S. U-23 team in France for the Toulon International Tournament, appearing in all three games, making one start…Played in all three games for the U.S. U-20 team in Portugal in the Campos Verde International Tournament from April 13-19. He scored the only U.S. goal against Cape Verde Islands on 4/15 and wore the captain's armband in 3-0 win over Northern Ireland on 4/16.
2007: Was a member of the U.S. FIFA U-17 World Cup, playing against Tajikistan….was teammates with current FCD teammates Josh Lambo and Ibee Ibrahim...Participated in camps with the U-20's prior to the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
2006: Made his U.S. debut with the U-17's versus Trinidad and Tobago U-23 in 2006…scored first international goal in a friendly versus Jamaica U-17s in 2006. …Notched an assist in the 26th minute of 2-0 win over Northern Ireland on 4/26, helping the U.S. U-17's advance to the final of the Ballymena International Tournament.

Played for Texans FC youth club, winning the State Championship four consecutive years...attended freshman year of high school at Bryan High School in Bryan/ College Station, before moving to U.S. Residency in Bradenton, Florida where he tells us he graduated in the top ten of his class at Edison Academy (there were 14 students in his class)…went to train with Bolton in England in October 2007…Favorite TV show is Rob & Big on MTV and Law and Order SVU and CI...favorite type of music is hip-hop and techno, with Lil' Wayne being his favorite artist...didn't start playing video games until U-17 Residency Program but is now a big fan of "Assassin's Creed," "FIFA," "Halo" and "Guitar Hero" on XBox...Favorite movies are "300," "Troy" and "Superbad"...U-17 coach made him cut off his Samurai-like pony tail prior to the U-17 World Cup…Favorite athlete is Lance Armstrong...Is the middle of five children, with two older brothers and two younger sisters...son of Charles and Kirsten…dad played football at Virginia Tech…family ancestry is Norwegian…full name is Dane Brekken Shea, but has always gone by Brek.
