FC Dallas upended at home by Revs
Clint Dempsey, who was raised in Nacogdoches, Texas, put New England on the board first with his eighth goal of the season in the 33rd minute. Carlos Ruiz pulled the match level with a goal in the 58th minute for FCD. But Joseph's tally left the Hoops without a win for the second time in as many games at their brand new stadium.
After a fairly even opening 20 minutes, the momentum began to swing in favor of the Revs. FC Dallas goalkeeper Jeff Cassar was forced into a point blank kick save on a Taylor Twellman shot in the 29th minute.
New England continued to capitalize on the advantage in the 33rd minute as Joey Franchino crossed in a low ball from the left touchline finding Dempsey for the tap in strike and the early lead 1-0 lead for the Revs.
Once New England got rolling the shots began to pour in, as the Revs outshot FCD 11-3, with five shots on goal to none for the Hoops.
Joseph was a force in the midfield throughout the first half, drawing a yellow card from fellow defensive midfielder Simo Valakari in the 39th minute with a reckless foul.
The second half began with a bit of a lull. Roberto Mina subbed in for Arturo Alvarez in the 50th minute with hopes of giving the Hoops' attack a breath of fresh air.
Chris Gbandi created the tying goal in the 58th minute as he found Ruiz on the near post with a short cross that Ruiz finished into the bottom left corner for his third goal at Pizza Hut Park and 10th of the year.
Following the tying goal, the game began to open up, but the Hoops were unable to complete the final pass throughout the second half.
Joseph sealed the win as he took on two players and let loose a tough low shot from 25 yards out that just slipped past an outstretched Jeff Cassar in the 80th minute.
The result can only further frustrate FC Dallas as they are now in a six-game winless slide. The Hoops hit the road again facing the Crew at Columbus for RadioShack's Soccer Saturday match on ESPN2 at 4 p.m. ET. New England will stay on the road, heading to Colorado Wednesday to face the Rapids at 9:30 p.m. ET.
